Milwaukee, Wis.--- The Blue Angels of Mount Mary University rounded out their four-game week of action by welcoming the University of St. Francis Fighting Saints. The Fighting Saints took the first set. The Blue Angels captured set two, but the Fighting Saints took set three and four, winning 3-1.  

Inside The Box Score  

• Gabby Saucedo Salas (Flagstaff, Ariz.) led the way with 12 kills.  

• With a team-high 27 assists was Ava Fincher (Owensboro, Ky.)  

• Libero Abigail Manthey (Mukwonago, Wis.) scooped 15 digs, while Lilly Severson (Cottage Grove, Wis.) added 10.  

What Happened  

The Blue Angels had a hot start to score four straight. The Fighting Saints fought back and scored the next nine of ten points, 8-4. The Fight Saints capitalized on Blue Angel errors, which extended their lead to 16-7. Andriana White (Erin, Tenn.) scored a powerful kill at 16-8. The rest of the set was in favor of USF, who won 25-12.  

The Blue Angels started set two down by four points. They were able to climb their way back to tie things 4-4 due to a Saucedo Salas ace. Back-and-forth action continued until the Fighting Saints scored another four straight points, 15-10. Mount Mary was forced to call a timeout to regroup. Following the time out, Rosalinda Palacios (Chicago, Ill.), Delnora Darden (Hendersonville, Tenn.), and Severson all recorded kills, bringing MMU down one, 15-14. The Blue Angels regained their momentum and did not back down, going on to score seven of the next eight points and take the lead, 21-17. The Fighting Saints were not going to let the Blue Angels off the hook easily as they came back down one point, 24-23. White secured the winning kill of set two, 25-23.   

Saucedo Salas kicked off set three, scoring a kill from Fincher. USF stepped into action and went on two three-point runs, 7-5. A huge kill from Darden brought the Blue Angels within one, 7-6. Each team continued to penetrate the gaps, scoring in back-and-forth fashion. Late in the set, the Fighting Saints took off and did not look back. The Blue Angels took a timeout to talk things over, 17-11. Following the timeout, they scored the remaining eight points, 25-12.  

The Blue Angels and Fighting Saints exchanged points for the first quarter of set four. USF scored four in a row, forcing a MMU timeout, 10-6. After the timeout, the Fighting Saints scored the next ten out of 14 points. The Blue Angels talked things over again at 22-10. Unfortunately, they could not string together for a comeback run. University of St. Francis took set four, 25-10, and won the matchup 3-1.   

The Blue Angels will return home on Tuesday, October 21st. They will showdown against Indiana Northwest at 7:00 p.m. The theme for the match will be Pink Out.
