University Park, Ill --- The Mount Mary University Blue Angels travelled to take on the Governors State University Jaguars. This matchup marked the fifth conference game of the season for the Blue Angels. The Jaguars secured a 3-0 win against the Blue Angels. 

Inside The Box Score:  

• Gabby Saucedo Salas (Flagstaff, Ariz.) led with nine kills.   

• Ava Fincher (Owensboro, Ky.) totaled 17 assists.  

• Abigail Manthey (Mukwonago, Wis.) put up ten digs and was the only service ace for the Blue Angels.  

What Happened:  

The first set of the match was entirely under the Jaguars control. The Blue Angels scored the first point of the set with a kill from Andriana White (Erin, Tenn.). The Jaguars led for the rest of the match in dominating force, 25-9. Starting set two, the Jaguars scored the first four points before White tallied a kill, 4-1. Following White, Rosalinda Palacios (Chicago, Ill.) found herself a kill, 5-2. Saucedo Salas added three kills early in the set, bringing hope for the Blue Angels, 7-5. The Jaguars went on to score a large handful of points, which was eventually stopped by White, 14-8. The Jaguars hit 20 first while the Blue Angels trailed with 13. The Blue Angels put up a good fight to come back, but it would not be enough as the Jaguars won the set, 25-18. Set three was forceful by the Jaguars. They jumped out to an early lead, 8-4, before Mount Mary scored their only back-to-back points of the set, 8-6. The Jaguars strung together numerous long runs, 17-9. Fincher and Saucedo Salas scored kills, but it would not be enough to surpass the Jaguars. Governor State secured set three, 25-14, and the match 3-0.  

The Blue Angels will be back home on Tuesday, September 23rd, at 7:00 against the Judson Eagles. They will look to get themselves back in the win column in that conference matchup.
