HANCOCK, Mich. – The Mount Mary University soccer team dropped its second straight 9-0 decision Saturday evening, this time to host FInlandia University at FinnU's McAfee Field.
Held shotless in their season opener against Wisconsin Lutheran Wednesday, the Blue Angels managed a pair of shots against the Lions early in the second half—those taken by sophomore Nyasia Hardy (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) and freshman LeAuntea Watson (Jefferson, Wis./Wis. Virtual Academy).
Freshman Brianna Brown (San Diego, Calif./Hoover) took her second losing decision of the season in goal, saving 11 shots in 73 minutes. Classmate Angie Gomez (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther) relieved Brown for the final 17 minutes, saving a pair of Finlandia shots on goal.
MMU will close out its two-game weekend slate in the Upper Peninsula Sunday against Northland College, again at Finlandia's McAfee Field.
