Mike DaSilva Named Head Soccer Coach
Milwaukee, Wis. — The Mount Mary University Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Mike DaSilva as Head Soccer Coach, effective February 16th. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and moved to the United States in 2008 where he was a graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School and was a two-time All-American and two-time All-Conference selection. DaSilva brings a wealth of experience to the role and, after serving on last season's coaching staff, is eager to step into a leadership position and lead the program forward.
DaSilva brings extensive coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. He has served as an assistant coach at Bryant & Stratton College, Carroll University, Lakeland University, and Mount Mary University, in addition to coaching at Arrowhead High School. He previously led the Martin Luther High School boy's soccer program as head coach and served as the Grafton High School girls junior varsity head coach. At the club level, he currently coaches with Elmbrook United Soccer Club.
In addition to his coaching success, DaSilva has built an accomplished playing career. He graduated from Cardinal Stritch University, where he competed at the NAIA level. He also played in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) with Bavarian Soccer Club. At the professional indoor level, he has competed in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) with the Baltimore Blast, Orlando SeaWolves, Kansas City Comets, St. Louis Ambush, and Harrisburg Heat. He played for the Milwaukee Torrent in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). He is currently playing professionally with the Milwaukee Wave.
"Since joining our staff last fall, Mike has proven to be an invaluable asset to the soccer program," said Director of Athletics Natalie Balleto. "He made an immediate impact as an assistant coach, and his promotion to head coach is a natural progression earned through his technical expertise and dedication. He is beyond deserving of this opportunity — a sentiment echoed by our players, whose excitement speaks volumes about the culture he is building. We are excited to see him lead this program to the next level."
"I am truly excited to get started and lead this program with purpose, passion, and commitment," said DaSilva. "I look forward to building something impactful and helping our student-athletes reach their highest potential."
