Blue Angel Basketball Players Participate in Mount Mary Annual Fashion Show
Milwaukee, WI- What was once just an idea from Mount Mary University Fashion Program Instructor Ashley Brooks, came to fruition on Friday May 8th, when five Mount Mary Basketball program members participated in the annual and prestigious MMU Fashion Show.
Sanai Ballard, Deriya Wilson, Avery Gorn, Ivy Morehouse and team manager Jechaia Powell were participants in the special event.
Powell served as a model for one of the Mount Mary Design Students, and she had this to say, "The process was overwhelming at times, but more than that it was an amazing experience. I really enjoyed being able to showcase my designer's hard work and creativity. I honestly would do it all over again!"
Professor Brooks commented on the experience of the MMU athletes being involved, "This collaboration challenged students to design for the individual, not the mass market. By interviewing players about their 'orange carpet' aspirations, students had to balance personal style requests with specific body proportions to create truly bespoke garments."
Blue Angel first year player (and Fashion Design Major) Ivy Morehouse also modeled in the show and had this to say, "My first fashion show felt like stepping into another world. The vibe was unreal and having my basketball teammates there, with each of them bringing their own flavor made it extra special. It was more than just showcasing our unique designs, it was celebrating each other's confidence, and it was certainly a rewarding night to remember."
