Blue Angel Athletes Recognized at Graduation
Milwaukee, WI – Mount Mary University held their annual commencement exercises on Saturday, May 16th. Several Blue Angel student athletes were presented with degrees and recognition for their academic program completion and achievement.
Taylor Hames from the MMU softball and cross-country program was recognized the night before commencement with a Senior Leadership Award, given to a "student who has displayed exceptional leadership, vision, and impact on the Mount Mary community. The senior leadership award recipient is an individual selected each year due to the transformative power of leadership, not always being the loudest voice, but one that uplifts often, models the way, and encourages the hearts and spirits of their peers and the community."
Hames then graduated Saturday with her Bachelor of Science degree, she was honored as Summa Cum Laude, which designates students with a grade point average impressively above a 3.9.
Jodi Cunningham, former member of the Blue Angel golf team, graduated within the Honors Program and Summa Cum Laude. Grace McCray who formerly played for the MMU volleyball team also graduated Summe Cum Laude and within the honors program.
Ceara McCarthy, who spent time with the Blue Angel volleyball and basketball teams, was recognized as a Cum Laude Graduate, signifying a Grade Point Average of 3.6 or higher.
Other graduates who had spent time with athletic teams were Michelle Herrera Carmona (Cross Country), Maritere Mercado (Soccer), and Valerie Vincent (Soccer and Volleyball).
